The new motor rigging system installed by White Light
UK Central Hall Westminster is Central London's largest conference centre. As Production Service Partner, White Light oversees all of the technical production support inside the venue and, over the next few months, will be installing the very latest lighting, AV and rigging technology. As part of this long-term upgrade, WL recently added a brand new motorised rigging system to the Great Hall, which will enhance any event that takes place inside this iconic space.

Prior to the installation, the rigging system inside the Great Hall had to be set up every time a different event took place. Jason Larcombe, WL's project manager, comments, "The motor rigging system consists of several LTM LoadGuard motors which are extremely adaptable to events of all sizes. Previously, if we wanted to rig equipment from the ceiling, this had to be manually carried and installed; quite an arduous task when you consider the Great Hall has the largest domed roof in Europe! Now we have the necessary equipment in place, ready to be utilised."

This new installation means that any event now taking place in the Great Hall will be able to save on time and money as well as have much more flexibility. Jason adds, "The motors have had an immediate impact and we actually used them within the first couple of hours of installation. We have also specifically located them within the domed roof itself so they are not visible from the auditorium. Aesthetically, this makes the whole space much cleaner."

Along with the new motor rigging system, WL will continue to install state-of-the-art technology throughout the venue over the coming months. WL's director Richard Wilson comments, "Our role at Central Hall Westminster is to not only support events but enhance them. With over 44 years experience in the entertainment industry, we know how vital it is to have the very latest equipment when hosting an event. We plan to install cutting-edge technology in every space at Central Hall Westminster so that any event can benefit from our resources."

Neil Parry, director of sales & events at Central Hall Westminster, comments, "We're absolutely delighted with the motorised rigging system that WL has installed. This will give us massive flexibility to turn events around really quick. It's a huge bonus and is already making a significant difference."

The past few weeks have been typically busy for Central Hall Westminster, with the venue hosting the London Business Forum event, providing the setting for Fox Sport's Rugby World Cup coverage and being the only British landmark included as part of the UN Day celebrations. Richard adds, "WL's role at Central Hall Westminster allows us to work on some really prolific events within a historic venue. We therefore want to ensure that the service and equipment we provide for them is the best it can possibly be."
