UK - Complementing the recent round of additions to the staff working in its hire department (see earlier People News), leading entertainment lighting supplier White Light has announced a new recruit to White Light Sales. Nick Blackman has joined the company as sales office manager, working alongside sales director Peter Threadgold and his team.

Nick Blackman joins White Light Sales from VLPS/Vari-Lite Europe, where he held the position of regional sales manager. Prior to that he worked for the Lighting Technology Group, for FSL International - the leading distributor of lighting, sound and AV production equipment in the Middle East - and prior to that he was with Strand Lighting.

Blackman joins White Light Sales at a busy time - in recent weeks the company has supplied equipment to both long-planned projects and in response to emergency calls, which saw the company supply new Strand lighting consoles to both the Theatre Royal Brighton (to replace a stolen console) and the Palace Theatre in London (to replace a Light Palette 90 that reached the end of its life) in a single week.

Many of the longer-planned projects have involved equipment from Robert Juliat, for whom White Light Sales is the exclusive UK distributor. These have included the delivery of 20 new Robert Juliat 2.5kW fresnels to the Linbury Studio at the Royal Opera House, more fresnels to the Opera House Main House, two Ivanhoe followspots to the Theatre Royal in Northampton and two Marius followspots to the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry.
