Established 15 years ago in Vara, in the southern part of Sweden, Andreas Karlsson's rental company is particularly well-known in corporate circles, where they handle the lion's share of big staff parties for client companies such as Carlsberg. Always working in live music, their projects take them mainly into clubs and large sporting venues and arenas.
The arrival of the first Geo S12 system in Sweden has surprised clients and engineers. "On the first show, the band's sound engineer was pretty shocked," explained Andreas Karlsson. "However, he had had a lot of experience with Nexo's smaller Geo S8 cabinets, and, after mixing Swedish doo-wop group The Boppers, he is convinced that this new system is a major step forward."
Andreas Karlsson had been shopping around for a line array to replace their proprietary system, the horn-loaded C4HL cabinets with 15", 10" and 2" which could fly or ground-stack. "We wanted to do bigger shows," he says. "We were principally looking for an improvement in sonic performance, a more even SPL distribution."
He looked at virtually every line array on the market before placing an order for the Geo S12 with Intersonic, Nexo's Swedish distributor. "We liked the tops of the S12. Most line arrays use HF drivers that are too small. In our proprietary system, we employ the JBL2450s, which are extremely high quality drivers, and we thought the S12 compared very well to that. The Nexo system goes very long in the bass so you can use it without subs, although we are pairing it with our own 2x 15" subs. Unlike many other systems, the S12 doesn't cut off around 100Hz, it still gives us that warm sound that we like to have."
