The installation has been completed by Normandy-based audio-visual specialists A-Tech, after a lengthy selection process. After auditioning products from four different manufacturers, the Nexo Geo S system was the personal choice of the theatre's technical director. "The cabinets are so compact, and the power-to-size ratio is just excellent," explained Jean-Marie Roussel of A-Tech.
The TMC has one level of seating, with quite a marked rake. To ensure even coverage throughout the audience area, which can accommodate 800 people, A-Tech has installed left and right hangs of seven Geo S805s plus 1x Geo S830 downfill box. For subbass, there are three CD12 units on each side of the proscenium arch stage, flown behind the Geo S arrays. Nexo PS8s are used for infill. The system is processed by Nexo 242 TDcontrollers, and powered by Camco Vortex 4 and Vortex 6 models.
A-Tech has also been using Nexo's Geo T technology in Coutances, notably for the annual jazz festival, which is staged in a large and acoustically challenging gymnasium in the city. With a 15 metre high ceiling, the venue has to be extensively draped before the jazzers can get started.
Traditionally, the event has been Nexo, first with Alpha systems, and for the last three years with Geo T cabinets. Powered by Camco, the left/right system features 6x Geo T4805 plus 2x T2815 downfill boxes flown from trussing either side of the stage. Four CD18s per side are stacked beneath the stage.
