Nexo powers Lakefest multi-stage experience

The festival organisers and Bluestone Audio brought together no fewer than 13 UK Nexo rental partners to provide sound systems on the various stages.
“Lakefest this year was a great festival for showcasing our Nexo Geo M12 line array with flown MSUB18s supplemented by cardioid pairs of RS18 subs across the front of the stage,” reports Bluestone owner Sam Brook. “We used Nexo Geo M10s for delays and Nexo P+ point source boxes as front and side-fills, and stage monitors. “When Faithless - Sister Bliss played her DJ set on Saturday night the sound and bass were amazing and had the whole arena up and dancing.”
“The system sounded great, set up really well with nice amounts of low-end from the hung MSUB18s, giving a great amount of punch” commented Angus Price, FOH sound engineer for first night main stage headliner Johnny Marr. “And really good coverage from the Geo M10 delays, voiced exactly the same as the Geo M12s.”
Retrospective of House and Funkytown tents featured Nexo Alpha ground-stacked systems with a Geo S12 system in the Amped tent and a smaller Geo M line array on Cheshire Cat Club comedy stage. Stages in the VIP, Cocktail and BBC Introducing tents featured Nexo point-source systems, with compact Nexo ID Series speakers used on the VIP viewing platform and the BMX cycling track. Even the Artist’s Green Room was Nexo-equipped.
Assistance for the event was provided by UK Nexo staff Gareth Collyer and Rich Soper, with technical assistance from Bertrand Billon of Nexo’s Engineering Support team.
“Bertrand provided some great support to us, and it was also great to have the support of Rich and Gareth for the event” says Sam. “Along with the Main Stage, we also used our trusty Nexo Alpha system in the Retrospective of House tent.”
“Nexo is all about equipping rental companies with versatile, high-performance systems that deliver a great return on investment” comments UK sales manager Rich Soper. “Not only did this year’s Lakefest prove that there’s a Nexo system perfect for every size of stage, but also the willingness of Nexo rental partners to pool their inventory and expertise to deliver world-class sound and service.”
“After another hugely successful Lakefest, the whole festival team would like to thank everyone from Nexo that joined us in the week before and during the festival, offering us superb hands-on technical support and advice” concludes Main Stage production manager Mark Whitehouse of Reaper Events. “Each year we aim to improve the experience for all the visitors to the festival and this year was no exception. We look forward to building the relationship further in coming years and are already excited for what we have in the pipeline for 2024.”
A full list of the Nexo rental partners on-site at Lakefest 2023 includes Reaper Events, Bluestone Audio, Serenity Audio, Connect Audio Visual, Giglight, USS AV, Steve Wilce Sound and Lighting, RMPA and RU Event Services, with additional Nexo inventory rented in from EPS Oxford, BES Systems, A1 Entertainment and BBQ Sound.
