New Zealand - Noise Productions Ltd - a full service production company providing sound, lighting and video system for events in the lower North Island of NewZealand - has added a Proel Edge 212P concert system to its hire stock supplied byimporter Jansen Professional Ltd.

Noise Productions managing director Toby Mills says: "The Edge Systemis another incredible example of how Proel continues to deliver cost-effective high performance professional audio solutions. The Edge cabinetsare incredibly sturdy and the quality of their sound reproduction, particularly the top end is stunning. Some people only know Proel as acable or stand manufacturer, however products like the Edge concert seriesreally place them on par with some of the leading concert speakerproviders."

The Edge system was tested in a variety of scenarios ranging from a localvenue with extremely difficult acoustics to a variety of outdoorenvironments and venues. The Edge 212P cabinets have been coupled withProel TFL double 18" subs.

"The Edge cabinets passed all our tests with flying colours, they copedwith the most difficult acoustic environments including a hall that hasbeen the bane of local sound engineers for years. Their extremely even andcontrolled directivity allowed us to minimise reflections and maximise theclarity of the sound," said Mills.

Noise Productions has tested the Edge cabinets for 12 months to ensure theyare rugged, reliable and still producing the same high quality soundas the day they were made.

Noise Productions has usedthem for every type of event from the harshest outdoor concert environmentswhere they have been soaked in rain and covered in mud, to the mostdemanding indoor listening environments including opera.

"Proel have really nailed the flying gear for these speakers. The flyinggear allows arrays in almost any derivative up to four wide and eight high. Thatmakes them extremely flexible and much more flexible than a comparativelypriced line array. Everyone seems to be going down the line array path, which is perfect for a specific and somewhat limited set of circumstances. For smaller regional sound companies the Edge system offers maximumflexibility without compromising on quality and a increased return oninvestment.

"The only downside to the cabinets is their weight, at around 90Kgs theyare fairly heavy relative to competing products. However that was asacrifice Noise Productions was willing to make due to the lower density ofcabinets that would be required to cover most events. We have had a coupleof reasonably prominent sound engineers turn up to use our system andjokingly ask where the speakers were? When they bring up the faders theyhave been shocked by the performance and even more shocked when theydiscovered the cabinets were Proel."

Mills says that one of his major reasons for going with Proel is thefact they are an end-to-end manufacturer, making just about every componentrequired to build a complete audio system. That means the company reallyhas to think about every aspect of a system, not just a specific component. As your system is only as good as the weakestlink, Proel consistently delivers high quality components for every stageof an audio system and are designed to integrate well. "If I have a choicebetween two manufacturers for a similar priced product, then I always gowith Proel simply because I trust that it will work. I have never yet beenlet down by a Proel product," he says.
