The ceremony was attended by the leading players of the Scottish events industry and took place on 11 September in Glasgow's Hilton Hotel. The event, now in its second year, is designed to promote, reward and celebrate the growing events industry in Scotland. The Event Awards brings together all areas of the industry, from event managers, to organisers, venues, suppliers and in-house teams.
Lois Ferguson, marketing manager at Northern Light, said: "We are chuffed to bits with this award. Our event production service has only been in place for a few years, so receiving this accolade from a panel of UK event industry judges - and against much more established event production companies - is a true reflection of how far we've come."
Northern Light diversified from its core business of installation, sale and hire of performing arts technologies to offer full event production services in 2006. Since then, the company has invested in sourcing new staff members, developing existing staff and acquiring new technologies to ensure that the event service offer is the best it can be.
Nick Read, Northern Light's head of hire and events, said: "Enhancing our hire department's service offer to include full event production came about as a direct result of client feedback. This award provides the recognition that the team deserves. From a standing start, our events service has developed and improved over an extremely short space of time - and this couldn't have been achieved without the hard work and dedication of our team."
Colin Cuthbert, managing director of Northern Light, concluded: "Northern Light is uniquely placed in our event production offer. Our vast experience of installing sound, lighting and stage engineering in a wide range of venues allows us to bring the drama of the theatre to each and every event. Receiving this award has made me extremely proud - of the events team and of the company as a whole."
