Taking place in Wymeswold, Leicestershire, the festival which has grown in size and popularity year on year, presents the best in tribute bands and local music with over 100 performances on four stages over the May Bank Holiday weekend. For the first time the 2013 event added an 80's theme on the Saturday night including performances by Howard Jones, ABC, The Christians and Heaven 17.
"Having used RSG products for the past few years at Glastonbudget and also using the digital consoles day to day for our conference and corporate work, we knew that using the M-480 and M-300 would give us superb sound quality as well as being easy to setup and use," commented Simon Taylor, director at OneBigStar.
For the Big Top stage area, a console with enough channels was required for a complex live setup where there would be a fast change around with incoming engineers. OneBigStar chose two M-480 48 Channel Digital Consoles connected to the S-1608 Stage Box with REAC (Roland Ethernet Audio Connection) splits at the stage end. Two engineers were then able to control monitors, FOH and the patchdeck from the M-480s
"The intuitive interface of the M-480 makes it ideal where you have a number of different engineers as it is easy to get them up to speed very quickly on the desk," commented Taylor.
On the main stage, Howard Jones bought his own system which includes the Roland M-48 Live Personal Mixers used by his musicians on tour. Ethercom running from the main stage to the M-300 at FOH enabled his engineer to patch in their own desk and use the M-300 for controlling monitors and FOH. The M-48 offers musicians the flexibility to control exactly what they want to listen to during their performances providing the highest level of sound monitoring quality for both headphones and IEMs (In-Ear Monitors) as well as for wedge and powered monitors.
