UK - As the exclusive UK dealer for Telex Radiocom's BTR 700 and BTR 800 intercom systems, Orbital Sound has announced eight new sales of both systems, which have been used on a variety of applications across the live broadcast and production industries. Deployed on projects as diverse as Edinburgh's International Festival, Glastonbury Festival, a host of West End Musicals including Andrew Lloyd Webber's latest production The Woman in White and, most recently, on location filming the new Sahara Productions' blockbuster movie - Sahara - starring Penelope Cruz and Matthew McConaughey.

The systems have proved their versatility and simple operation straight out of the box, providing the perfect solution in any environment where real time 2-way communications are required. Orbital's sales and installation manager Tom Byrne collaborated with Joe Buxton of MR Technical Services to tailor the BTR 700 fully duplex, wireless system to his specifications for use in the film industry. Specified by Buxton to join the production team on Sahara, the system worked effectively and reliably as a communications tool, say the company.

Buxton explained: "Having been introduced to the BTR system on location in Prague, I contacted Orbital on return to spec the system for Sahara. As the system had worked perfectly in sub-zero temperatures, I was confident that it would deal with the extreme heat in the desert. It did! It performed exceptionally well and streamlined operations enormously and expanded our potential particularly when filming challenging high speed off road shots."

The Warehouse Sound Services have recently acquired their first BTR 800 system, which has augmented their hire fleet. It made its debut at Edinburgh's International Festival where the system facilitated smooth operations on-site.

A two-channel UHF frequency agile wireless intercom system comprising two intercom channel access from each of four full duplex beltpacks, the BTR-800 builds on the success of its sister product, the BTR-700, and is designed for a host of applications including, theatre, stage management, conferences, live events and live broadcast. Orbital has also recently sold BTR systems to companies as diverse as Canegreen, First Network, Audio Alliance and the BBC.
