With 25 years' experience behind them, the production hire company had been considering investing in a line array system of their own for some time, to service their wide range of event productions. "We were impressed with how perfectly the QSC system had worked in this discotheque," remembers Orion's commercial manager, Remko Langendonk. And before long Jos Muller from QSC distributors, Holland Audio Import (HAI), was knocking on his door.
"We had already looked at the major competing brands," says Remko, "All sounded good, but there were a number of important factors in QSC's favour. This included the overall quality, the ease of rigging, QSC's acceptance in the marketplace, but most importantly our relationship with the sales company."
The order was placed for a WideLine 10 system, comprising 16 x WideLine 2102 full range speakers. This was supplied with four PowerLight PL6.0 II amplifiers, two PL230's and a pair of BASIS 922az DSP devices, QSC's dedicated system control, as well as the necessary flying frames and rigging accessories. The company has decided to rent in WideLine WL218-sw subwoofers from HAI as and when they are required.
Orion has already proved the system's versatility, running it on a wide range of events, from concerts and film festivals to the opening ceremony for a new highway. "So far it has been a great investment," says Remko.
