The summer tour has lasted three months and the Butterfly system consisted of 14+14 CDH 483 Hi-Packs, 8+8 Victor Live subwoofers (plus 8 HARD 212 low profile wedge monitors).
Willy Gubellini, owner of Nuovo Service says: "I'm definitely satisfied with the results achieved in terms of SPL, coverage of the areas at the shows and as far as actual sound quality is concerned.
"I'd also like to stress the advantage of being able to install an array of 12/14 enclosures in such a small space and with such a very low overall weight.
"I'd say that the tour is definitely one of the most difficult, as this type of concert means we've to deal with venues with capacities ranging from a few hundred to thousands, and the audio rig must always be able to fully meet coverage and sound pressure requirements without having to modify its original set-up. Fortunately, although it can't always be taken for granted that this happens, up until now, the system has always enabled me to solve any problems of sound balance."
Angelo Camporese, audio chief and PA Man says: "Butterfly is gratifying as far as its musical timbre is concerned, an aspect that usually leaves a bit to be desired in modern line-arrays. It is extremely versatile, as it's technically speaking a pure - very pure - line array, with the well-known advantages this offers, but at the same time 'on command' it's able to unleash the punch of the legendary point source arrays of 10-15 years ago."
Maurizio Maggi, FOH Engineer, says: "As well as the obvious overall quality, one of the aspects of Butterfly that impressed me was the even high-level reproduction of the 'mid-low' frequencies: this is certainly thanks to the four 8" speakers, which are acoustically coupled with a mechanical crossover to approximately 400 Hz, the frequency from which just two of them, facing into the horn, reproduce the frequencies up to the crossover to the driver, eliminating any detrimental masking and contamination of this delicate part of the audio spectrum, which has the job of reproducing the mid-high frequencies - the part that's probably the most decisive for the 'musicality' required from a loudspeaker system: this is definitely by no means a new technique! But these days it's a rarity on the line array market."
On the occasion of the unforgettable concert staged at Milan's Palatrussardi (Mazda Palace), other Butterfly systems were added to ensure perfect sound coverage, for a total of 40 CHD 483 hi-packs, plus 24 Victor Live subwoofers.
During recent months in Italy, Outline Butterfly (almost always used along with the HARD 212 wedge monitors) was also chosen for the tours by Marina Rei, Paola Turci and Max Gazzè
