PAS supplies visuals and audio for PPP event

To complement the presentation of its vision inside the building, PPP engaged arts company The Brick Box and artist Fabric Lenny to create an eye-catching and dynamic live artwork on the Assembly’s exterior frontage. The Brick Box producer Harry Jelley consulted with Bradford-based Pro Audio Systems (PAS) over the best way to achieve the artist’s aims. As well as its long-established presence in the world of professional audio, PAS also has available a full inventory of specialist video and lighting products, which can be deployed by its expert team for projects on every scale.
Joel Sheldon, project manager for PAS, comments, “We worked closely with Harry to ensure that we exactly met the brief. We’ve supplied equipment for a number of live visual art installations and always taken very careful account of what the artist wants to achieve.
“We provided two Panasonic PT-RZ 970 projectors, with short throw DLE-085 lenses, stacked on Rig Tec frames to project Fabric Lenny’s animation onto the building. The projectors were stacked to increase the overall brightness - each projector puts out around 9500 Lumens, so coupled together the projection was around 15,000 lumen. We constructed a 4m high scaffold tower for the projectors, with the resulting final projection being around nine metres wide.”
To accompany the visual projection, the production enlisted the services of an opera singer performing inside the building with audio directed out onto the street. PAS supplied a DPA d:facto microphone, playback via QLab and two Meyer Sound UPJ self-powered loudspeakers placed in windows to complete the package.
Harry Jelley, producer at The Brick Works reflects on a very successful collaboration: "This was our first time working with Pro Audio Systems - their professionalism, expertise and considerate approach to their work was apparent from the very beginning. Joel took time to understand what we needed from our bespoke request, both from spec and budget, and delivered exactly what we needed. The team was excellent; we would absolutely work with them again."
