Germany - At Pro Light + Sound this week, Philips Entertainment is demonstrating a synergy of product lines from Philips Vari-Lite, Color-Kinetics, Strand and Selecon. By combining four of the leading manufacturers in the entertainment lighting industry, Philips Entertainment has the ability to share the most innovative technology developments and patents across all product lines giving lighting designers and dealers the very best tools for the lighting industry today, says the company.

"We are very excited to have a fully integrated showing of all the Philips Entertainment brands at Pro Light + Sound," said Peter Rogers, senior director entertainment marketing. "By building on the success of our showing at PLASA in 2009, we have a unique position in the lighting industry. Philips Vari-Lite, Color Kinetics, Strand and Selecon have always been at the forefront in entertainment lighting and with all four now under the Philips umbrella, we are able to share technology advancements and build upon the strengths of each other."

Philips Vari-Lite will debut the new VARI*LITE® VL550CD Wash and VL1100CD luminaires, the latest in eco-friendly lighting technology. The VL550CD Wash and VL1100CD luminaires utilise a 315W ceramic discharge lamp that offers a 3200K colour temperature and 95 CRI. Also on display will be the VARI*LITE VLX Wash, VL3500 Wash FX, and the VL3500 Spot luminaires.

As the newest member of the Philips Entertainment family, Color Kinetics will be announcing a new distribution concept at the show which will give distributors complete access to the full range of TR series of theatrical products. Color Kinetics will also show the next generation of LED technology with the debut of the powerful new TRX series of five color RGBAW luminaires.

Philips Selecon has incorporated the LED light engine technology currently utilised in the VLX Wash to create a new luminaire aimed at museum and gallery lighting designers. The new FocusLED, to be shown in prototype form at Pro Light + Sound, will meet key needs for these designers with highly accurate colour rendering in both daylight and conventional lighting applications, says the company.

Additionally, Philips Selecon will show a prototype of their new "Ze" range of Ellipsoidal Reflector Spotlight (ERS) luminaires. As their third new product at Pro Light + Sound, Philips Selecon will debut a stage and studio wash luminaire, a focusable wash light for entertainment applications. The new luminaire utilises three VLX Wash LED light engines to produce light levels similar to a 1.2kW fresnel or PC spot with a power consumption of only 400 watts. The PL-3 can be daylight balanced for film or tungsten balanced for stage and studio applications with an extremely broad focus range and impressive color control and light output.

Philips Strand will be introducing "the next generation in IGBT dimming technology" with a universal voltage C21/EC21 dual 2.5kW dimmer module, a single 5.0kW dimmer module and the new eS21 dimmer strip.

Philips Special Lamps will join the Entertainment group on the stand to promote the Platinum series lamps plus their complete range lamps for every application.
