PID, which has established itself as a leading solutions-based digital media service over the past two years, says that the deals with High End and Apple allow them to offer the latest software-only versions of Catalyst, together with an array of new features and playback hardware at highly-competitive prices. Catalyst Pro software features eight layers, two video outputs, MIDI Show Control input, four serial control devices, three RS422 (Sony 9-pin protocol) serial control of external devices, time code input, presets and sound output (for playing movies with a soundtrack).
Catalyst DV software features five layers, single outputs, four movie playback layers plus one non-movie playback layer, which can be used for masking or images; two video inputs, MIDI Show Control input, three serial control devices, two RS422 (Sony 9-pin protocol) serial control of external devices, time code input, presets and sound output. Finally, Catalyst Xpress software features three layers, two movie playback and one mask layer, single output, MIDI Show Control input, one video input, presets and sound output.
PID can provide each version either as software-only, or as part of a complete system, tailored exactly to client requirements. The latter includes the Apple MAC computer, SCSI hard drive, hot-rodded video card, flightcase and video distribution hardware. All customers are also offered access to the extensive and constantly expanding PID Digital Content Library, which includes industry-standard ranges from Beacon, Amorphous and E-Pok, along with new 'real action' content from Fractured Pictures and Digital Vision'.
