The festival hosted more than 140 international and regional DJ superstars across four stages
Vietnam - Epizode is a popular music and arts festival, held annually on Vietnam’s biggest island Phu Quoc. It’s aim is to bring the latest global trends in electronic music to Asia, whilst at the same time showcasing the best regional talents. East meets West at this winter hub of party goers, travellers and industry personalities and the latest edition attracted more than 10,000 people from 79 countries.
The festival hosted more than 140 international and regional DJ superstars across four stages spread along a beautiful beachfront, delivering non-stop performance 24 hours a day for 11 days. One significant new addition to the 2018/9 line-up was Pioneer Pro Audio’s XY-3B system, which took care of the Egg stage. The general consensus was that this renewal had seen a marked improvement in the festival’s audio provision, compared to the previous year and XY-3B played a significant part in helping to raise the standard.
Pioneer Pro Audio supplied six XY-3B 3WAY Bi-amp speakers, complemented by six x XY-218HS dual 18-inch horn loaded subs and two XY-2 mid-high speakers for monitoring.
Stage production manager, Maxim Baturin commented: “I’d heard a lot about Pioneer Pro Audio and had wanted to put a system to the test. The festival organisers had worked with Pioneer DJ Vietnam in respect of DJ equipment and they subsequently expressed an interest in Pioneer Pro Audio products. This led to the use of an XY-3B system for the Egg stage.”
An outdoor stage on a beach requires substantial reserves of power and the capability to deliver significant sound pressure levels over distance, with great detail. XY Series delivered the necessary power and clarity with plenty to spare.
Maxim continues: “The installation and tuning of the system was straightforward and I was pleasantly surprised by the clean and powerful sound. The system was heard way beyond the immediate dancefloor - people dance everywhere at Epizode - and stood up to a pretty relentless onslaught from the DJs. I think some DJs were surprised at just how good it was.”
