Philips Selecon PL1 and PL3 Wash lights will both feature in the shoot-out
UK - Philips Selecon LED luminaires will participate in the Society of Television Lighting Designers (STLD) LED fixture shoot out on Stand 1F-60. The event promises to be an exciting interactive, hands-on, head-to-head showdown.

The Philips Selecon PLTR2 RGBAW LED (Color Blaze) will be pitching its 3540 lumens per foot output (available in 2ft and 4ft fittings) against other cyclorama lighting products on a specially built 8m cyclorama on the STLD stand.

Michael Goldberg, sales and marketing director EMEA for Philips Entertainment says: "What ensures the Color Blaze luminaire stands apart from its competition is the way it makes use of both cool white and amber LEDs. They ensure lighting designers have access to a palette of both subtle pastel and rich saturated colours. In addition the luminaires accept a range of lenses, which means the fixture can service a variety of applications."

The STLD stand will also feature two practical hands-on 'mini TV studios', where competing LED washes, soft lights, key lights and more can be explored hands-on.

Philips Selecon PL1 and PL3 Wash lights will both feature. Driven by the Philips Vari-Lite VLX LED light engine these luminaires represent the first light sources to deliver full control of beam colour composition irrespective of intensity.

Visitors will be able to try their hand at lighting the two 'mini TV studios, and observe the results through two HD broadcast cameras. A lighting director and electrician will be on hand to offer guidance.

The third area is a lecture and presentation theatre area where visitors can see the output from LED fixtures in different categories compared side-by-side with their traditional Tungsten or Discharge equivalent. Lecture theatre sessions will be repeated twice a day and there is no need to pre-book. Monitors and video displays will make it clear what's happening, and a light reading will be displayed to show illumination levels and the types of shadows each fixture generates alongside its traditional equivalent - check out the STLD Website for more details.

Goldberg concludes: "Philips Selecon is delighted to be offered this additional opportunity to showcase the latest developments in LED technology at the PLASA show. We very much look forward to the feedback we get from visitors to the STLD stand and also from our regular end users and customers. We believe the shoot out will offer people an excellent opportunity to see the real value of the Philips Selecon LED range and to better understand the exciting creative design potential they offer."
