South Africa / UK - Two South African Roadies Association (SARA) female members; Itumeleng Motswaledi from White City, Soweto and Mmaphefo Kefilwe from Naturena - Johannesburg South will be attending PLASA 2011 (Earls Court, London 11 - 14 September 2011).

The PLASA Show is the leading show-piece of new technology within the entertainment, live event, corporate, architectural and installation industries. This international event delivers the latest in new technology, hundreds of breaking-product launches, unrivalled networking opportunities and an acclaimed educational programme; making it a very important event on SARA'S annual calendar.

The purpose of the visit provides the ability to attend industry educational seminars, meet with cutting-edge equipment manufactures, acquire strategic assistance for the South African Roadies Association and also in turn create future opportunities for technically- and production-oriented South African youth, says SARA

The two South African Roadies Association members, who will be joined by South African Roadies Association President Freddie Nyathela, will participate in PLASA's "International Networking Objectives", providing SARA the opportunity to present the association's 'initiatives' to some 12,000 technical and production professionals from 100 plus countries. They will also be meeting with representatives from WiSE (Women in Stage Entertainment) to further discuss a way-forward in implementing technical training skills transfer programmes to empower and improve opportunities for women in the technical and production sector, and to increase women's involvement in this sector.

SARA will also be meeting with the Backstage Academy (a UK training technical and production academy) for discussions regarding their new fast-track foundation degree in Live Events Production, as well as to how SARA and the Backstage Academy might work together to create exchange programmes, to be implemented in future between the UK and South Africa. A meeting will also be held with the UK National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural Skills (NSA).
