PLASA Focus: Cadac all at sixes and sevens
- Details
The combination of the CDC six and CDC seven surfaces with CDC OS V4.0, delivers the most intuitive mix platform to the live sound market. The symbiotic operational advances of the consoles’ 23.5” LCD touch screens and ’touch and swipe’ gesture operation, makes for the most instinctive mixing platform yet devised, and introduces a host of unique ‘human’ capabilities in console operation.
Encoders immediately to the right of and below both screens further encourage the natural use of gesture in shaping the mix. The dual touch screen configuration of the CDC seven further extends the ‘human’ performance advantages, providing simultaneous operation of console functions on separate screens or to ‘spill’ feature sets and modes across two screens. Other exclusive CDC performance innovations include the consoles’ ’monitor’ and ‘mix focus’ modes, the ability to create ‘custom layers’ of ‘sticky’ channels comprising of inputs, outputs or VCAs, to automatic latency management.
Both consoles feature 16 creative on-board stereo effects and come preconfigured with an integrated 64 x 64 Waves interface; enabling direct connection to a Waves MultiRack SoundGrid server with access to the vast Waves’ library of plugins (license dependent), as well as multitrack recording directly to a laptop.
Also on the booth will be a full complement of MegaCOMMS components – running on the same network along with both consoles, with audio played out from the CDC MC Router and from a laptop – comprising the CDC I/O 3216, CDC I/O 6448, CDC I/O AES3 stage boxes, and CDC MC Dante and CDC MC MADI bridges.
Commenting on the introduction of the CDC seven and V4.0 software, marketing manager James Godbehear said: “The continuous development of Cadac’s intuitive gesture based GUI and OS work flow, makes ever greater use of the flexibly provided by the 23.5" large format touch screen. In the CDC seven we have a mix platform that combines all of the advances in CDC OS V4.0 with the operational advantages of a dual screen, 36-fader configuration, yet still with a relatively compact foot print.
“With the swift learning curve of both the CDC seven and CDC six, coupled with their industry-leading latency management system and unsurpassable audio performance, at a highly competitive price point, both offer incredibly attractive propositions for those who want something that stands apart from the normal offering of consoles.”
