UK - PLASA Connect, the new business contact initiative set to run at this year's PLASA Show (13-16 September, Earls Court, London), has gained the support and sponsorship of Supply2Gov. The only official government lower-value contract opportunity portal, Supply2Gov was created in June 2006, specifically to provide small businesses with information on public sector contract opportunities - typically below £100,000.

The support of Supply2.gov.uk underlines PLASA09's role as a focus for business within the sector. Supply2Gov is the first major initiative to unite both buyers and suppliers in a single location, making it easier for business and government to work together. Suppliers can access UK-wide contracts for free via an online Contract Search, and can also sign up for a daily e-mail alert.Since its launch, the portal has provided small businesses throughout the UK with in excess of 130,000 contract opportunities nationwide.

PLASA Connect aims to provide a new focus on developing business opportunities for the industry's service providers and consultants. An idea developed in conjunction with RH Consulting and sponsored by L&SI magazine, it will provide service-based operators - including consultants, installers and rental companies - with an opportunity to find new potential clients from a wide range of vertical markets.

Leading companies who have already signed up to PLASA Connect include AC Special Projects, Green Hippo, Orbital Sound, RH Consulting, SSE Audio and White Light.

Among the market areas being targeted are hotel groups, building services companies, houses of worship, council chambers, theatres and arts centres, performing arts schools, IT service companies and environmental health officers.

The meetings themselves will then take place in the PLASA Connect Lounge area - an exclusive new feature at the heart of PLASA09. Members of the supply2gov.co.uk team will be on hand throughout the four days of PLASA09 to assist businesses in signing up for this free service and to offer wider advice on making the most of public sector opportunities.

PLASA Events Manager Sophie Atkinson said: "The whole purpose of PLASA Connect is to drive the development of new business opportunities and matching clients with the expertise our suppliers can give them - the support of Supply2gov.co.uk is a major boost for us and endorses the core values of this area."

If you are a service provider looking to source new business contacts, or if you are looking for new suppliers, rental or consultancy services in any avenue of professional lighting, sound, audio-visual or staging equipment and systems, you can find out more about how PLASA Connect can help you by visiting the website below, or by contacting Jane Cockburn at the email address provided.
