When ETC began developing a lighting product for cycloramas, they didn't want to introduce just another cyc light on the market. It had to meet several requirements to be deserving of the ETC brand: the light would be bright, easy to use, provide seamless coverage, and comply with the high standards ETC sets for its products. The result is the Source Four LED CYC, an adapter that affixes to any Source Four LED luminaire, transforming it into a powerful tool to illuminate cycloramas.

Using the x7 Color System, which combines up to seven LED colours in one unit, Source Four LED luminaires can provide a nearly limitless range of colours, from pure whites to refined pastels and vibrant, saturated hues.

With the introduction of the Source Four LED CYC accessory, that colour flexibility can now be applied to cycloramas. "The Source Four LED CYC can really jazz up monochromatic cloths,

USA - City Theatrical is launching a new version of the DMX SHoW Baby wireless DMX system called SHoW DMX SHoW Baby 5.

SHoW Baby 5 now has five SHoW IDs, allowing systems to be scaled up to multi universe broadcasts by using more than one transmitter, or as a way of avoiding interference from other SHoW Babys in the area.

SHoW Baby 5 is still plug and play. Each unit is a transceiver and by plugging a DMX cable IN, it automatically selects itself to be a Transmitter. If nothing is plugged into the DMX IN port, it selects itself to be a receiver.

SHoW Baby 5 is the same price as the original SHoW Baby and is compatible with all existing SHoW Babys in the world.

There are still seven indicator lights on the front of the SHoW Baby, four for signal strength, one to designate whether it is a transmitter, one to designate whether it is a receiver, and a data present light. In th

USA - City Theatrical reports new additions to its product line of low voltage dimmers and some changes to the existing low voltage dimmers.

Low voltage dimming has always been used for incandescent lamps in scenery, props, and costumes, and is often paired with City Theatrical's SHoW DMX wireless DMX to allow wireless dimming. The real growth in this area today is the dimming of LED tape, which has growing use in all areas of entertainment.

City Theatrical now has a line of 10 products for lighting professionals, and has rebranded the entire group of dimmers to make it more logical to choose which one to use. The dimmers in the new product line are:

UK - Richard Martin Lighting (RML) has recently added the Robert Juliat Alex Followspot to its already extensive inventory, available to hire today.

The Alex Followspot is a 2500w Tungsten unit and suitable for television studios and theatre productions. It contains a mechanical dimmer, which allows a constant colour temperature during dimming while additionally maintaining the flat beam which, as we know, is important when using sensitive camera equipment. Having a tungsten lamp allows for the units to be used with conventional theatre and television lighting, making sure no hot spots are visible.

With a G22 locking system exclusive to all Robert Juliat products, a localised on/off switch, and 7° to 14.5° zoom, the Alex Followspot is a product designed for big impact and ease of use.

Steve Wells, operations manager at RML said of the purchase, "Investing in Fol

Germany - Osram has for the first time achieved maximum image quality for pure laser-based projection with a combination of laser and phosphor materials. The new phaser technology contains modules which do not need to be replaced during the complete service life of the projector. They will be used for the first time in projectors from the end of this year.

Until now only green light was generated via laser with laser-based projectors - LEDs were responsible for the blue and red primary colours. With phaser technology, where 'phaser' stands for phosphor and laser, Osram for the first time presents a process which achieves outstanding image quality with projection by the use of laser, made possible by blue laser diodes. The beams of the diodes are focused directly onto a wheel coated with red, yellow and green phosphor. When the wheel rotates the colours are generated in sequence,

Europe - Launched at Prolight + Sound 2013, the Kreios SL is the first LED spotlight from Osram with a high light output exceeding 3000 lumens. 'Excellent colour rendering, with a high CRI (colour rendering index) of 95 and a broad dimming range (5-100%) makes the Kreios SL an extremely versatile fixture', says the company.

It is currently the most powerful LED spotlight available on the market and has been designed for a broad range of illumination applications where a zoom able light source is preferred; in particular, for background lighting of TV and studio recordings.

Kreios SL replaces standard 100W to 250W halogen spotlight solutions and is an especially economic alternative for event, TV and studio experts. Its long lasting and high quality LEDs give a service life of up to 30,000 hours, therefore no relamping is required. Comparable halogen spotlights would usually ne

Germany - Sommer Cable is releasing a fully reworked and unified MonoCAT cable family. The different hybrid cables all contain network lines complemented by signal or power supply elements. This allows to connect digital sound, light or video control desks using only one cable and, as the case may be, with only one plug-in procedure. This is also suitable for applications on OB vans or in the installation or conference sectors.

Owing to the reworked internal Cat 7 construction in SFTP with a line gauge of 0.22 mm2 even greater transmission paths are now possible. This allows a trouble-free transmission of signals based on gigabit ethernet over distances up to 100 m. The power wires have a cross-sectional area of 2.5 mm2 to avoid problems with longer distances here, too.
