USA - At the NAMM exhibition in Anaheim, California, the Harman Pro Group has unveiled HiQnet, which it describes as "the most significant new technology introduction in its history". This, say the company, is the world's first connectivity and control protocol to integrate all product categories in the signal chain for professional sound systems of all types, sizes and applications. USA - Wybron's Nexera CDM dichroic colour changing fixtures are now shipping with a five-year warranty on the accompanying Aromat ballasts. As of 2 February 2005, Aromat Corporation has authorized the Nexera CDM units to ship with a five-year warranty on all ballasts. To attain the warranty approval, the fixtures underwent temperature testing in Aromat's Poway, California laboratory. France - Following previews at major trade shows in the UK, America and in Australia, ETC made SIEL 2005 the official launch platform for its latest console, the fruit of its relationship with the Avab brand and called Congo.

The development team spent time talking to board operators, rental companies, theatre lighting technicians and lighting designers to ensure they got exactly what they wanted. Feedback from the previews is now being implemented into the software, to hone the development of Congo further. The console has been designed "to be the most complete theatre and moving light hybrid - without losing the feel of a classic lighting control system," according to Avab software developer Anders Ekvall. Other team members included Jean-Louis Pernette and Christian Rezgui of Avab France, who were instrumental in directing product development.

Germany - Since the beginning of 2005, all MA lighting consoles (excl. LC 12/2) are technically upgraded and are delivered with a specially developed LED gooseneck desk lamp. The new desk lamps feature two special-LEDs offering a string of advantages such as, a long service life with a thungsten-similar, very bright, light output.

MA Lighting say that although this new desk lamp is nearly double-price of the previous version, the company will not increase the price for the lighting consoles. Users can also order the new LED lamp separately, and can choose between straight or right-angled XLR3 connectors.

France - Daslight's Virtual Controller software program now includes a new tool for CMY and RGB fixtures under Matrix Manager. It can be used as easily as any drawing software and it makes programming quite simple, say the company. It is also possible to download videos and images and scroll text.

A new USB interface has been included in the Daslight range of products. This interface works in DMX IN on 512 channels and is fully compatible with all consoles available on the market, say the company. UK - Following the release of Stardraw Control Beta 1 last month, software provider Stardraw.com has announced the public availability of Stardraw Control Beta 2 with immediate effect, prior to its formal launch scheduled for NSCA next month. A community of nearly 600 systems specialists was involved in the Beta 1 test phase and further participants in the Beta 2 test phase are similarly invited. Stardraw Control Beta 2 offers enhanced stability and applicability over the first Beta version, which was developed on the Microsoft.net v2 platform, which is itself still in the beta testing stage. As there is no firm release date for MS.net framework v2, Stardraw has released Stardraw Control Beta 2 on MS.net v1.1, the current release version. "It will be very easy to port everything back over to MS.net v2 when it is formally released later this year," commented Stardraw.com
