UK - Le Mark announced the launch of a new product to assist all areas of the entertainment industry effected by the changes to existing electrical wiring core colours. Please see Amendment No 2 to BS 7671 : 2001 or follow the iee website link below.

These colours are a sometimes referred to as "harmonised" colours and will bring the UK closely in line with practice in mainland Europe. Following visitor request received during the 2004 PLASA show and since. The need to produce a simple to use and visually effective method of marking both electrical cable 'tails' and when required Cam-Lok/Power Lock type connectors was requested. With three-phase, a caution notice is also required at the distribution board.

To assist with this,Le Mark has developed a version of its established Identi-Tak cable length marking system. The new version Identi-Tail, combines the existing vi

The Netherlands - Alcons Audio has introduced the new RBN1801 pro-ribbon driver - a new mid/high frequency transducer designed for high output and high fidelity sound reproduction applications. Based on the principles of Isophasic planar driver technology, the RBN1801 features an effective radiation length of 18" (46cm), offering power handling of 3kW (for 200ms, which is 10 times the industry standard, say Alcons Audio) and a high efficiency of 108dB with 1W @ 1m. With a 90° wave-guide, this efficiency rises to 110dB, say Alcons, with a frequency operating range of 1kHz - 20kHz (+/-3dB) and a maximum SPL of 145dB.

As a result of the symmetric 'push/pull' design, not only is the 1801 completely magnetically shielded, it also functions as a dipole cylindrical radiator. The mid/high frequency transducer features Alcons Audio's patented 'Real-90' dispersion, a unique develop

UK - Forge Europa has introduced a new range of SPLEDs for use in a range of illumination applications including backlighting and filament bulbs replacement. SPlined LEDs - SPLEDs for short - are LED bulb replacements which can be used without a printed circuit board. The contours of the LED just push into a pre-drilled hole with a secure friction fit, and insulation displacement connectors make interconnection easy.

Suitable for assembly into all types of vac form and plastic fascias they are quick to assemble, making them suited to short production runs and applications requiring fast progression from development to manufacture.

SPLEDs can stand-alone or march together in extended strips to provide unique scope for the creative lighting design engineer. They provide a very wide viewing angle of 120°, and diode protection ensures that they can survive harsh environments. Si

USA - The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has allowed the claims of a patent application filed by Meyer Sound pertaining to the company's MAPP Online acoustical prediction software. The patent describes a method of providing acoustical response predictions for a modeled loudspeaker system over a communications network. In the case of MAPP Online, an Internet-enabled client-server system lets modeling software running on a server at Meyer Sound's headquarters provide the computational "back end" to GUI software running on the user's local computer. Allowance of the claims is a significant step preceding the award of a patent. The patent, when issued, will be the 35th US or international patent issued to Meyer Sound since its founding in 1979.

As described in the company's patent application, the techniques employed by MAPP Online provide a number of
