Germany - ARRI has announced the addition of the Orbiter Fresnel lens to the already large pool of Orbiter optics, making this LED luminaire even more versatile. Combined with Orbiter’s ARRI Spectra light engine, the high-end optical system is suited for cinematic application, broadcast studios, as well as theatres or live productions.
Creating a precise light spot with a soft single shadow, the new Orbiter Fresnel lens delivers true Fresnel output with a real Gaussian field of light. The light output of Orbiter with Fresnel lens is comparable to the ARRI L-Series L10 and True Blue ST2/3 with 2000 W Tungsten bulb.
Despite its large aperture, the Orbiter Fresnel lens housing is compact (approx. 340mm x 380mm x 370mm and lightweight (4.5kg / 9.5lbs). Its lens diameter of 285mm equals that of the True Blue ST2/3 and T5.

UK - Brompton Technology has announced two major feature advances as part of its Tessera v3.4 software release: Extended Bit Depth and Stacking. “These features enhance our already compelling feature-set, which is well-established as the processing of choice for both major live events and film and television production,” says Brompton’s CEO, Richard Mead.”
Extended Bit Depth unlocks higher PWM bit depth output with a free firmware update for all existing and new panels fitted with the Brompton R2 or R2+ receiver card. Up to 3.3 additional bits of precision improves low-brightness performance – reducing visual artefacts and bringing out additional detail and nuance in dark areas of the image. This substantial increase in dynamic range offers a significant boost in performance that is hard to ignore for ICVFX and other LED on camera applications.

USA - At this week’s InfoComm in Las Vegas, Audinate introduced Dante Brooklyn 3 audio networking module and Dante Fremont 3 AV networking module. The new modules are pin-compatible replacements for the popular Dante Brooklyn 2 and Dante Fremont modules and have been redesigned to ensure continuous availability while delivering support for current and future Dante features.
Samples of both modules will be available to manufacturers in Q3 2022 and will start shipping in production quantities in Q4 2022.
The Dante Brooklyn module family is the most widely deployed implementation of Dante, and is used in hundreds of mixing consoles, DSPs, amplifiers, and much more. Germany - Astera has introduced its latest wireless LED lighting product, the HydraPanel, which features the company’s Titan LED engine.
The HydraPanel offers features including a beam-shaper module, magnetic mounting, and the Titan LED engine’s colour mixing, dimming characteristics and quality of light.

USA - Altman Lighting has announced an update to its PHX line. The new PHX LIME chip is brighter without any increase of power consumption, meaning that mixing to white brings a 1,000-2,000lm increase in total brightness per fixture, all whilst delivering independent saturates of Red, Green and Blue. “This is made possible by splitting the LED only four times, allowing us to deliver more power to the saturate chips than many other fixtures in the current market while still maintaining thousands of colour combinations,” says the company.

USA - Austrian Audio has announced the NAMM launch of the OC16, a large-diaphragm condenser microphone, designed to offer premium features at an affordable price. Just like the OC18 and the OC818 models, the new OC16 boasts a transparent and natural sound thanks to a combination of the hand-made in Vienna CKR capsule and Austrian Audio’s "Open Acoustics Technology" approach.
The OC16 is a robust microphone equipped with a patented CKR6 ceramic capsule. The design is inspired by the CK12 capsule which was made of brass. Austrian Audio opted for industrial ceramics instead as it is a highly insulating material that has the same mass and acoustic properties as brass, but is far less error-prone in production and can be manufactured much more consistently. Each capsule is made by hand in Vienna, tested and measured in-house before it leaves the factory.

The showcase included Abstract’s IP20-rated, RBGW LED lighting system Candi Blox. Manufactured in the UK, the 200mm x 192mm unit features a five-by-five array of multi-chip LEDs configured as a central array of 25 LEDs, with an edge halo effect surround achieved through 20 additional LEDs. USA - 64 Audio has announced the launch of its new hi-res headphone extension cable. Now shipping, the cable will be featured during the 2022 NAMM Show in Anaheim next month.
“Designed as an ultra-efficient solution to the cable length problem, our new extension cable is made to effectively extend the IEM signal by an additional 10 feet without any audio degradation,” says Vitaliy Belonozhko, 64 Audio founder and chief sound designer. “It is built to match the quality and low-resistance nature of all 64 Audio cables for complete sonic transparency.”
The extension cable is suitable for use with personal monitor mixers, rather than using low-quality extension cables that severely degrade the quality of sound compared to a direct connection. It can also be used in a live audio setting as well as by studio professionals, gamers, and audiophiles.
