UK - PLASA Focus Leeds will see Highlite International present the UK launch of a brand new range of Pipe & Drape products from Wentex. Highlite International have an exclusive distribution deal with Wentex for the whole of Europe.

The new system uses a "revolutionary" and patented 4-way connector with an auto-lock system. The system guarantees solid connections of the uprights and drape supports, while they can still be adjusted to every conceivable direction. The cloths attach with Velcro onto the cross bars, making for easy rigging and adjusting. Cloths are available in black and white.

Highlite International will also be showing the new DMT P10 SMD Tour Pixelscreen. Each panel is 640 x 740 x 90mm, and weighs 18kg, making it easy to rig. The panels are IP65-rated and have a luminance output of 5500 Nits.

The focus this year was the revelation of the latest box of tricks that has been integrated into Innovason's flagship Eclipse GT digital console: named for the 'all-gifted' figure of Greek mythology, Pandora is a new way of panning that provides audibly better results across the listening field than traditional stereo panning, says the company.

Tonmeister and renowned classical sound engineer, Carsten Kummel, explains, "The problem with traditional panning is the loss of signal on one side when you pan to the other. To resolve this, some people choose to mix in mono, but this isn't really a viable solution, especially for complex shows where you are dealing with anything from 80 to 100 channels. So, I started playing around with delay and seeing if I could achieve better results that way.

Germany - Midas picked up the MIPA (Musikmesse International Press Award) for Live Mixing Desk for the new PRO2/C live audio system at Prolight + Sound 2012. MIPAs are presented to the best products released during the previous year as voted for by more than 100 international audio and music magazines. Managing Director Jan Verheijen said the exhibition had been "our busiest ever, with a lot of enquiries about the P100 Protruss, as well as the rest of our product portfolio. We'll definitely be back next year and expect to be busier than ever."

Germany - Last week's ProLight+Sound show was the busiest ever for Doughty Engineering, reports sales director Julian Chiverton. "It was the first time we'd had our own, rather than a shared, stand and the response was tremendous. We were incredibly busy the whole exhibition, with visitors from as far afield as Japan and Russia, and a lot of new contacts to follow up."

Doughty also reports that a lot of interest was shown in its new Baby Quick Trigger clamp. Intended for use on smaller truss sizes, this clamp is adjustable to diameters from 25mm up to 38mm and will be on show for the first time in the UK at PLASA Focus Leeds.

UK - WirelessLED has chosen PLASA Focus to launch the full production model of SMARTe, its revolutionary compact wireless LED system.

It has been six months of hard work since the pre-production model was shown at PLASA last September but it has been worth the wait. Concentrating on feedback from individuals and companies across the entertainment industry WirelessLED has refined the original design.

The Studio Panel is an LED soft light featuring: variable colour temperature from 2700K up to 6000K using a mixture of amber and white LEDs. Drawing just 60W of power at any voltage the Studio Panel can be powered via a four pin XLR direct from the TV camera or via a powercon connector direct from the mains. This means that on location the luminaire can be powered from the camera alone. Three onboard buttons and a wheel enable the user to quickly adjust the colour temperature, dimming intensity and access a number of preset colour temperatures. Alternatively the luminaire can be controlled remotely via DMX. Available from April 2012.

ADB will show some of its latest lighting and lighting control systems, including the UK preview of its new LED Powered Profile Spotlight.

Based on the proven concept of the Europe 1kW Condenser Profile, the new LED Profile was first shown at JTSE, SIEL and ProLight+Sound. With final design enhancements and extensive road testing in progress, the full product range launch is planned for September 2012. UK - Artistic Licence Engineering will be using PLASA Focus as a platform from which to launch a plethora of new products. Two new product ranges (Rack Pack and Zone Control) have been developed for release at the show alongside a new splitter and a modular advancement in the Multichrome Range.

The latest addition to Artistic Licence's Rack Pack range, dVnet is a digital video to network converter housed in a 19-inch rack case. It is aimed at retail and architectural applications where a media facade or any pixilated display is to be controlled by video without the complexity of a media server.

Germany - LumenRadio reports "a fantastic Prolight+Sound show". The new 'Swedish-inspired' stand design attracted thousands of German and international visitors. The stand, which was a part of the German distributor LMP's extremely busy village was framed by eight up-light cubes and contained elements from a typical Swedish forest. All lighting in the stand was controlled wirelessly by CRMX products.

The new product features, including KiNet V1 and V2 as well as CRMX Unity integration for both wireless and wired RDM, were received with much interest. Many business deals was closed at the show and upcoming projects were confirmed in UK, Russia and France. In addition, several LumenRadio wireless seminars were booked for different European markets.

Germany - Turbosound's Flashline line array attracted "a great deal of attention" at this year's prolight+sound exhibition in Frankfurt.

Managing director Simon Blackwood said, "We've had serious interest in Flashline amongst rental companies and sound engineers both at the European launch in Oberhausen three weeks ago, and at prolight+sound, which has been hugely successful for us.
