The Flash8 is a full-range speaker in a polypropylene enclosure, available in active and passive versions, (8A and 8P) featuring Celestion 8" woofers, designed for PA and all general sound reinforcement uses.
The Celestion 8" woofer comes with an enlarged voice coil (1.8" as opposed to 1.5" in the Next8) which means the speaker offers increased power handling and greater extension at lower frequencies. Meanwhile, the newly developed large format HF horn offers higher efficiency in the HF region and better coverage. HF duties are handled by 1" tweeters with titanium diaphragms.
Despite its small size, the Proel Flash8P will handle 150W continuous input (300 Watts peak) and will deliver 96dB across 70Hz-20kHz, says the company.
The active Flash8A features 180 Watts of class D amplification for the LF (the Next8 delivered 150W) and offers seven active EQ filters (as opposed to two). Additionally, the Flash8 benefits from 24 dB/oct crossover filters, against 12 dB/oct in the Next8, which means users will benefit from overall better sound quality and definition.
