Key to the Edge's exceptional performance are two new speakers. The 8" woofer has several innovative features, including ISV (Interleaved Sandwich Voice Coil) and employs a diecast basket with double ventilation to ensure maximum heat dispersion with the lowest possible compression level. The 1" compression driver contains ferrofluid for maximum heat dispersion and features a new diaphragm manufactured from synthetic material designed with radial reinforcements to increase rigidity. The phase corrector results from new a 3D CAD study, which has resulted in a design that offers the perfect shape to ensure correct acoustic impedance with drastically reduced distortion levels.
The Edge 8CXP is equipped with a 12dB/octave passive crossover with PTC electronic protection for maximum abuse-proof reliability. With an 8 Ohm nominal impedance, the Edge 8CXP has a frequency response of 63Hz-20kHz, sensitivity of 95dB (1W/1m), a rated maximum SPL of 121dB, a 60° x 60° dispersion angle and will handle 225W (AES). Proel says that its research and development team is busily engaged in work on new coaxial speaker designs and that this year will see the introduction of further introductions in the Edge series.
