Pictured here is the Edge 212P - a two-way, horn-loaded, full-range system engineered for live concerts and fixed installations. The Edge 212P includes two parallel 16Ohm 12" woofers (with 3" voice coil) and one 2" compression driver (with 4" voice coil). The woofers feature the ISV (Interleaved Sandwich Voice Coil) system and a double-ventilated die-cast aluminium basket designed for improved heat dissipation and to reduce the power compression level. DDR (Double Demodulating Rings) provide improved control of the excursion and a reduction in distortion. The vertically asymmetric dispersion is engineered for excellent directivity control for the majority of applications, where the system is above the listening point.
The high range waveguide, constructed from damped fiberglass, has been optimized to integrate with the rest of the system. The project has been developed using finite element method analysis software and simulators created by Proel’s R&D department.
This loudspeaker requires external processing and amplification, and carries two Neutrik Speakon NL4MP professional connectors on its rear to ensure safe connection, optimum power transfer and the capability to connect more than one speaker in parallel. The Edge 212P features the Fly-Track suspension system which allows suspension in live venues or in fixed installations with a 7:1 security factor.
Also in the series, the Edge 121SP (the first Proel 21" subwoofer, offering continuous power of 800W AES and a maximum SPL of 127dB, with low-end down to 25Hz), the Edge CX15P - a 15" coaxial stage monitor, the Edge 218SP, a double 18" direct radiation subwoofer, the Edge 25P full-range 2 x 5.25" speaker for nearfield reinforcement and the Edge 8CXP, a 8" coaxial full-range installation speaker.
