The show’s lighting was supplied by PRG, a company with a long pedigree and strong tradition for supporting West End theatre, from its origins on Broadway to its current dedicated ambassadors, Jon Cadbury and Peter Marshall, who have been active in supporting West End and fringe theatres for many years.

PRG executive chairman, chief creative officer and founder, Jere Harris, worked hard to secure PRG as the lighting supplier for Bruno Poet’s sleek and elegant lighting design, simultaneously choosing

The event, which took place at UOB Live, Emsphere, showcased more than 20 models and offered Ferrari enthusiasts in Thailand an up-close and personal experience of limited editions, legendary classics, and the very latest F80, the most powerful road car to emerge from the Ferrari factory.

The exhibition was divided into a number of zones which featured different elements of the Ferrari story. It was important that the event audio matched the visual presentation, and Coda Audio was the preferred choice.

USA - In keeping with its mission to foster ‘innovative creativity’ within the live event industry, the Conference Live at Lititz selects one young designer to light the main stage at its popular event every year. In 2024, that honour belonged to Tegan Rehbein. Working with a rig supplied by the 4Wall Entertainment team led by project manager Zack Spadaccia, she provided proof that The Conference made a good choice.

Anchoring Rehbein's rig were 246 Chauvet Professional fixtures. She drew on their performance features and bright output to paint the stage in an array of vivid colours, while filling the venue with dramatic aerial patterns and audience lighting.

Key to helping her create her engaging show were 48 Color Strike M motorised strobe-washes in full pixel mode. "Very early on in the design process I knew from the event organisers t

Canada - A lighting designer isn't always asked to create more light. Sometimes the client's request veers more toward darkness. Such was the case this December when Pierre E. Roy was called upon to light the holiday show Parapapam at la Maison Symphonique in Montreal.

Roy explained how it transpired: "At the request of the director, we held back on some brightness. He wanted the stage to be kind of dark – but not black – to make it dramatic. He also wanted to make the solo artists more prominent by having most of the stage a bit subdued. When the soloists weren't singing, the orchestra, and/or choir, became more prominent and brighter."

The darkness also created challenges when it came to key lighting a cast that included 30 musicians and more than twice as many chorists. Complicating matters further, the soloists often roamed the stage

UK - The holographic in-camera video effects seen around the London Eye during the BBC live broadcast of the New Year’s Eve Celebrations were created through the use of hologram effect projection fabric Hologauze.

The fabric was created by UK-based Holotronica to create what it describes as a “forced perspective illusion”. Hologauze is set a short distance in front of the camera, covering the full frame of the desired shot. Custom video content is then projected onto the Hologauze and mapped to fill the space required.

The camera captures the projected content on the Hologauze, as well as the environment behind, while the rest of the Hologauze is effectively invisible. Using this technique with Hologauze enabled the holographic effect to be achieved during the live broadcast.

Sweden - Ant Wan, one of Sweden’s largest hip-hop artists, broke the attendance record at Stockholm’s Tele2 Arena recently, when a sell-out crowd of 40,899 fans gathered to see the concert. What is more remarkable is that not only did he steal the previous house record from Madonna, but it was only the artist’s second ever live concert (after selling out the Avicii Arena last year).

Such an auspicious occasion warranted a top lighting designer – both to fill the arena with light, and to sensitively interact with the concrete-based stage design and scenography created by visual artist Alexander Wessely, who doubled as show director. He brought in Jakob Larsson (of Light it Production), with whom he has worked in the past – notably with acts such as the Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia – and the LD was soon integrating a familiar family of hybrid pro

Europe - In April 2019 Claypaky launched the HY B-Eye, with twice the power and brightness as the B-Eye. The success that followed was immediate and many lighting designers and rental companies began specifying HY B-Eye K25 and HY B-Eye K15 from the very first introduction on the market.

In mid-2019, German rock band Rammstein undertook a stadium tour in Europe with Claypaky HY B-Eye K25, selected by lighting designers Ronald Greil and Patrick Woodroffe. “We were one of the first shows that used a large quantity of K25s,” said Greil. “We were positively surprised by their brightness and reliability. The band loved a lot of brightness and fire power, and the K25s did a good job.”

A few months later, several K25 were used at the final stage of Russia’s National Amateur Teams Hockey Festival in Sochi, with Aleksey Inkov as lighting designer as

USA - DirectOut was chosen for Jonas Brothers’ The Tour. The Prodigy.MP was selected for the band’s global trek, thanks to its precision engineering and audio clarity. Adam Robinson, front of house engineer, along with systems engineer Cameron Manes, explain how they came to decide on Prodigy.MP for Jonas Brothers system and redundancy requirements.

“In the past we were using different system processors, but it felt like it was colouring our sound, so we wanted to look for a new solution that gave us the flexibility we were looking for without affecting the signal,” Manes recalls. “We needed a way to future-proof our system and respond to the growing demands of the production throughout the tour, but also retain the clarity we were looking for.”

Both Robinson and Manes were excited by the opportunity to expand control of their au

UK - Cornwall’s Eden Project has transformed an abandoned clay pit into a series of geodesic domes containing biomes that celebrate the rich diversity of nature. The nonprofit attraction drew 1.8m visitors within a year after it opened in March 2001.

This tribute to nature is still going strong, engaging visitors in compelling ways, just as it is doing this year with its Winter Holiday Shows, which take place at its different domes. Artfully designed by Glenn Gridley and his team at GLX Productions, the immersive displays ‘capture the mystical quality of the season when winter light and nature interweave in a timeless transcendent dance’.

UK - NYC post-punk band, Interpol, concluded the penultimate leg of its world tour with five dates in the UK at the end of the year. The tour celebrated the 20th anniversary of the band’s seminal landmark album, Antics, which the band played in full.

In keeping with Interpol’s image, Ed Warren’s lighting carried a spartan quality which is a work of modern art in itself. The stripped-back design employed 21 Ayrton laser-sourced Cobra fixtures – Warren’s only moving lights – in what Warren terms an “extremely considered and precise” show.

“There was a lot of symmetry going on between all the elements, and paramount to the geometry of it all was to have clean straight beams emanating from above and below,” the lighting designer explains. 15 Cobra were flown on a staggered array of truss fingers over the band

UK - An Audient ASP880 eight-channel mic preamp was chosen for the new production studio at Soho House|Soho Works in Dean Street. Consisting of a spacious control room and live room, the studio is tailored to meet the needs of artists, writers and producers and is available to Soho House members.

The equipment was supplied and installed by studio installation specialist, Arcadia Solutions. The live room is cabled directly to the control room patchbay so clients can patch into an array of outboard, which includes the Audient ASP880.

Gavin Miller, owner of Arcadia Solutions explains: “The live room has the space to be able to record up to eight vocals and instruments at one time and Soho House needed an option for a bank of preamps to cater for multi-channel recording. ASP880 was the natural choice.”

Studio manager Sarah Haycox comments:

USA - There were many magical moments in Boston’s 7,200-seat Agganis Arena on 14 December as Christmas came early for music fans with the arrival of Teddy Swims' Deck The Hall Ball

Contributing to the special mood at the show was a balanced production from the team at Events United led by project manager/systems engineer Chase Clark, which drew on the bright output and colour rendering prowess of 82 Chauvet Professional fixtures.

Rachael Fahey, production designer for the concert, described how the fixtures were used. "When I design a show, I try to give our lighting designers a variety of tools to work with," she said. "Our light director Meg Fiske consistently does a great job working with these lighting rigs with amazing success."

Europe - DJ and record producer David Guetta is an advocate of K-array’s sound solutions. Guetta first encountered K-array systems in an entirely unexpected way. “I organised a big party for my son, and they told me there would be a K-array sound system,” Guetta recalls. “I was a bit nervous because the space was huge, but I couldn’t believe how incredible it sounded. The clarity and power were astonishing.”

Impressed by the quality and innovation, Guetta was eager to associate his image with the brand, making it an integral part of his weekly residency at Ibiza’s Ushuaïa nightclub.

Working mainly with K-array’s point source Dragon range and Kayman and Mugello line-array loudspeakers, Guetta now includes a full K-array system on his weekly residency. “Every Monday, I use the K-array sound system for my events and e
