Hong Kong-based Eastern Acoustic Development Ltd (EAD) distributes more than 16 European and US brands, including EAW and LabGruppen. "We decided to join Prolight + Sound Shanghai primarily because of the show's location," explains EAD representative, Grace Ng. "We are planning to open a branch in Shanghai later this year, to complement our existing business in Beijing and Guangzhou. Being at Prolight + Sound Shanghai enables us to have closer contacts with our potential customers and to get better understanding of the competitive market environment. Shanghai is extremely important to us, as 80% of our business is with mainland China, we definitely need to increase our share in that regional market."
Peter Chong of Prosperity Lamps (also based in Hong Kong) agrees that the location is an important factor. "In previous years we have exhibited in PLASA Shanghai. Even though Prolight + Sound Shanghai is a new event, we feel it is important to stay visible, and let our customers in this region know we haven't disappeared - that is why we decided to participate."
Prosperity Lamps and Components is one of the largest manufacturing and trading companies in lamps, lighting fixtures and components in Hong Kong, established in 1978. Their Professional Product Division was set up in the early 1980s. The company's premium products include the Griven lighting from Italy and High End Systems from the USA.
