‘The main aim was to provide the public with an immersive experience’
Italy - Director of photography Davide Manca has chosen Prolights equipment to update the lighting at the Leonardo3 Museum in Milan.
The Leonardo3 Exhibition was opened in March 2013 at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II by the Study Centre Leonardo 3 and has quickly earned its place in the cultural scenario in Milan, going from being a temporary exhibition to a museum installation.
On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the exhibition, the management announced a renewal of the exhibition halls through a lighting project created by Davide Manca. He chose to rely on Prolights lighting solutions, selecting LinearLED fixtures ArcShine S18FC and ArcShine S9FC to light up the walls of the art booths.
The small Gallery profiles EclDisplay DATWhite and EclGalleryProfile are based on LED source and equipped with high-definition zoom optics, the portable battery uplights Smart BatPlusG2 with RGB + Warm White LED source, and the high power EclProfile CT+ with six colours emitters and zoom optics.
“The new lighting wasn't designed only for aesthetic purposes." said Massimiliano Lisa, director, creator, and founder of the exhibition "The main aim was to provide the public with an immersive experience, allowing them to enter into Leonardo's mind: the idea was to illuminate the museum as if they were on a film set and using the light as a source of narration."
The lighting designer was more than satisfied with the result: "Giving the right light to Leonardo da Vinci's works was challenging. I only succeeded thanks to the great support of my coworkers and the Prolights team's perseverance and energy. They assisted and supported me throughout the journey. Nothing would have been possible without the creativity of the director Marco Cassini."
Manca continued: "Lighting the museum was tiring and complex, but Prolights products allowed me to realise my initial idea. It was a demanding task, but these technologies were the breakthrough to succeed, allowing me to make this magic happen.”
