Prolights picks Brompton for KappaPix
- Details
“Our Film & TV division has consistently proven to be one of the most successful units within our organisation,” says Fabio Sorabella, managing director of Prolights. “Over the years, we've solidified our presence on some of the world's most prestigious stages and studios, primarily through our comprehensive range of ECL lighting fixtures. Expanding our video product line to include specialised LED screens was the natural next step to meet the elevated standards of the XR and virtual production sectors."
The KappaPix series boasts a 2.6mm pixel pitch and is meticulously crafted to meet the exacting demands and control requirements of motion picture and XR studios. The 26B model utilises premium components and comes equipped with Brompton R2 receiver cards on board, achieving an impressive 7680Hz refresh rate and 251Hz frame rate.
“Our decision to collaborate with Brompton Technology was an obvious choice, given their exemplary reputation for quality and reliability in both software and hardware components,” Sorabella continues. “Both our product management team and our clients have been greatly impressed by the image quality achieved with this setup.
“We are currently in the process of implementing these systems in large-scale studios and anticipate expanding this product range in the near future. Brompton shares our commitment to innovation and outstanding customer support, making this a highly promising partnership for the long term.”
Sorabella notes that the Tessera features the team is most impressed with include PureTone, HFR (High Frame Rate), and Frame Remapping for projecting trackers on a dedicated camera. Additionally, all screens have been calibrated using Brompton's Hydra advanced measurement system, fully leveraging the Dynamic Calibration technology and ensuring the LED panels are Brompton HDR-ready.
Currently, the Prolights team is in the process of installing the new screens, along with 4K Tessera SX40 LED processors and Tessera XD 10G data distribution units, at a large studio in Norway. Sorabella reveals: "While the shooting phase has yet to commence, as soon as the commissioning is complete, we look forward to inviting the Brompton team to visit the facility and join us in celebrating this achievement together."
“We are thrilled to see the Prolights team utilising Brompton LED processing, complete with a full suite of Tessera features and Dynamic Calibration technology for their new KappaPix LED screens,” concludes Dries Vermeulen, business development manager - Europe at Brompton Technology. “We can't wait to hear about the ongoing installation at the Norwegian studio and to witness all the exciting projects that will be produced there.”
