The manufacturer's territorial distributors, SDS Music Factory, supplied hangs comprising four ILA2082-i per side with a pair of ModularDesign MD-S215 (2 x 15") subwoofers to meet the main hall specification of project designers and installers, DIONIX.
The venue itself offers a total of seven seminar rooms, with the largest providing even coverage for up to 700 seats. Since the shape of this space is oval, it presented a special challenge for the sound system designers, who not only needed to achieve even coverage, but set EQ patterns appropriate for concerts and worship.
DIONIX and SDS managed to meet these criteria, achieving optimum speech intelligibility and a wide dynamic range.
Christian Frei, project engineer of DIONIX, states that after hearing the ILA - with its 140° wide horizontal dispersion characteristic - he knew exactly how to control the system with frequency- and amplitude-shading topology to overcome the inherent problems of this difficult room.
The signal chain remained in the QSC Audio domain throughout and included a DSP233 digital signal processor which stored the gain settings and handled the routing, as well as a combination of QSC Audio's ISA and RMX amplifiers.
All smaller seminar rooms as well as the entrance have been equipped with QSC's AcousticDesign series in the form of the stylish AD-S82H's and AD-S52's.
Owned by the Evangelical Free Church of Thun, the Burgsaal Thun AG forms part of a municipal landscape which includes Lake Thun, an impressive castle and an old town that provides a gateway to the Bernese Oberland - close to the Alpine foothills.
