R.W. Salt Communications, one of the UK’s longest standing wholesaler/distributors has announced the first phase of its scheduled restructure. The RWS branches in Birmingham and Watford have now closed and all products are now distributed centrally from the Manchester head office.

General manager Craig Buckley commented: "We have been distributing all products to customers from Manchester since March 1st this year, and have essentially only been using the satellite depots for bulk stock-holding. In recent years we have seen less of a need for trade counters, and an increased requirement for ex-stock product availability and for reliable next-day delivery. As a result of the central distribution scheme, we have already expanded our Manchester-based technical sales team."

Parallel to the restructure, R.W. Salt have been appointed sole distributor for the new ‘Smartwireless’ range of radio systems and Tim Riley, formerly with Trantec, will be joining the team to manage the range. David Hartley, ex of Lightfactor and A.C. Lighting, has also joined R.W.S. as sales manager for the Chauvet range of lighting products for which R.W. Salt is the exclusive UK wholesaler. The company will also introduce two area sales managers as part of a strategy to increase the level of customer care. The sales team, as well as the six strong team of telephone technical sales staff, will be managed by Neal Hollick, who recently joined R.W.S. as national sales manager from Bose Ltd.

Craig Buckley concluded: "Things are really starting to move now as we look to further develop R.W. Salt. This is only phase one of our restructure and we are on target to introduce phase two in the new year."
