Scouts and Guides gather at the Red Rose event.
UK - On 26 July this year around 2600 Scouts, Guides, leaders and staff arrived at West Moorland Show Ground near Milnethorpe in Cumbria for the Red Rose 2014 International Scout Event. Organised and delivered by volunteers, the event involved a large number of staff all working together to ensure the event was a success.

ProLight Concepts Ltd's product sourcing manager Chris Beesley took two weeks out from his busy schedule to manage the two stages and oversee the on-site installation of 100V background music systems and multimedia information displays.

First port of call for the outdoor stage was local rental company West Coast Hire & Events. The visual impact of WCHE's inflatable stage blended well with the tented village, this was then flanked with two large truss archway style flag and banner stands constructed from Global Truss F34 Series Quad Truss. The archways accompanied the main stage for the full week long event serving as the backdrop to the events very own talent contest each evening.

Lighting for the main stage consisted of six LEDJ Performer 36 LED Pars, four eLumen8 Kudos 300ZS moving wash heads and four Xperior 5R ACL Moving Beams all courtesy of Prolight Concepts Ltd, control for the rig via Chamsys Maxi Wing.

The second stage provided the all-weather solution inside a large marquee giving the opportunity for the young participants to learn and improve their DJ Skills. The stage was again rigged using a ground stacked Global Truss F34 system supporting six LEDJ Performer 36 LED Pars, four eLumen8 Kudos 300ZS moving wash heads, six eLumen8 MS700PE 180W moving profile spots and four LEDJ Vector Beam Quad battens with four LEDJ Q Colour's for general stage wash. Chris chose to use a Chamsys Maxi Wing for the indoor stage also allowing the volunteer crew to change between stages while retaining familiarity with the control surface. Taking centre stage, allowing real-time video relay of the participants DJing skills, Chris rigged a projection surface and Sanyo projector courtesy of Green Monkey AV.

Lighting for the staff entertainment consisted of 12 LEDJ Performer 36 uplighters plus four LEDJ Q Colour controlled by a Transcension LED Master 64 console. The LED Master 64 was selected for ease of operation by untrained staff.

Every day across the large site at West Moorland Show Ground the on-site radio system could be heard loud and clear thanks to a large, multi-zone PA system consisting of 60 Clever Acoustics WPS series outdoor cabinets and 12 PDS series pendant ball speakers inside marquees. Amplification for the system came in the form of the newly released Clever Acoustics MA 4120MP four zone mixer amplifier.
