The Grand Ballroom at Pinewood Studios provided an elegant setting for people to come and see/hear for themselves the products Paul will be representing, notably the new Eclipse from Innovason and the Tannoy VQ Series loudspeaker system.
Guests were treated to a short product presentation from both manufacturers followed by a champagne buffet and the opportunity for some hands-on time with the Eclipse. The highlight of the evening was a 45-minute set from Eighties punk rock icon and actress, Toyah Wilcox.
The diminutive star performed a belting, high-energy set that included most of her original hits as well as a variety of new material, engineered by Paul Nicholson on an Innovason Eclipse from which he ran the Tannoy VQ Front-of-House PA system, plus the stage monitors and in-ear systems.
"I would like to thank everyone who attended, especially Toyah and the band who did a fantastic job. The adjacent Pool Room wasn't an easy space to work in acoustically, but I thought that Toyah and the systems sounded amazing," commented Paul.
"It was great to be able to showcase the Eclipse and VQ 60 LIVE products in such a prestigious location, and it was an excellent event for all concerned. We've had some extremely positive feedback from the engineers who attended, and we are about to hit the road with a rolling demo programme which will coming soon to a town near you!"
Innovason's Xavier Pion was equally satisfied: "For many of the engineers, this was perhaps only the second time they'd seen the console, and certainly the first opportunity they'd had to play with it," he explained. "I'm pleased to say that the reactions were extremely encouraging, and they were all really impressed by Mars, our onboard multitrack recording option. It was also the first live showcase for the console, and again, I'm delighted to say it performed impeccably and sounded fantastic! Thanks to everyone who did such a great job for us at Pinewood and made the event the success it was."
