Richard will take over as Technical Editor of Lighting&Sound International magazine from James Eade, who has helped the PLASA Media team steer the technical content of L&SI for the past nine years. Lee Baldock, editor of L&SI since 2004, said: "James has made a huge contribution to the technical content of L&SI over the years, while still running his own successful business, e-Mech. I personally would like to thank him for all his help and guidance over that time. Bringing in a full-time Technical Editor to work across our respective titles is a necessary step at this stage of our developing business, but Richard will be able to build on a reputation for quality technical content that has been largely built with James's input since the first Technical Focus appeared in 2002."
Richard Cadena has worked in the entertainment technology industry for over 25 years, including, most recently, at PLSN magazine and, before that, at High End Systems and Martin Professional. Richard has volunteered on the ESTA-now PLASA -Technical Standards Committee, is an ETCP certified Entertainment Electrician, teaches throughout the year with his Academy of Production Technology training program, and has authored four theatre lighting books.
Said PLASA managing director and CEO Matthew Griffiths, "We are very excited to welcome Richard Cadena into the PLASA team. He is widely respected for his knowledge, hands-on technical, media, and training experience in the industry and will be an invaluable resource for us all."
Lori Rubinstein, executive director of PLASA's North American office added, "Richard is a highly respected and tireless industry contributor and volunteer. We look forward to his continuing contributions as a PLASA staff member to our important Technical Standards Program."
Jackie Tien, director of media and events, commented, "We're really looking forward to having Richard share his technical expertise and journalism experience with PLASA's growing media division where he will be working closely with Lighting&Sound America's editor David Barbour, Lighting&Sound International's editor Lee Baldock, and Protocol's editor Beverly Inglesby."
