Italy - "Styles of music are never changed without affecting the most important political institutions." Quoting Plato, the Italian minister for cultural assets and activities, Rocco Buttiglione, inaugurated Rimini Fiera SIB 2006, 20th International Show of Event & Entertainment Technology and the 10th DISMA Music Show, Musical Instrument Music Publications & Recording Industry Expo at Rimini Fiera.

Rimini Fiera Chairman, Lorenzo Cagnoni, announced the official figures of each of the key sectors of the two expos, which were hosted simultaneously at the expo centre until Tuesday 14 March: "Overall, between lighting, audiovisuals and complementary products, SIB represents a part of Italy's economy with a value of approximately 650 million euros. Last year, the sales of actual musical instruments, for which DISMA Music Show is the leading event, increased by 3.6% compared to 2004, reaching a total of 180 million euros." Cagnoni then expressed his thanks to those who had contributed to constructing these two important appointments with Rimini Fiera, enabling them to chalk up twenty editions of SIB and celebrate the tenth anniversary of DISMA Music Show: APIAS, Association of Italian Manufacturers for the Entertainment Industry, SILB and ILDA for the former expo, and DISMAmusica for the latter.

The SIB 2006 expo showcase covers 50,000sqm hosting 600 exhibitors. These include new lighting, audio and video products, entertainment and architectural lighting, as well as all the latest applications of the revolutionary LED technology. Alongside the expo section are specific demo areas for testing equipment under operating conditions. In the context of SIB, there are also numerous specialist areas, such as the second edition of SIB Atmosfair - Design, Décor and Technology for New Entertainment, a section dedicated to supplies for night venues.

SIB Teatro, the section of SIB for theatre, television studio and film set technologies hosts SIB Opera House: an area of approximately 2,000sqm, exhibiting scenographic and set design work. Also worthy of mention, the third Sound Power, an opportunity for trade members to see and hear the best and most advanced sound reinforcement systems currently on the market.
