The production design for the 35,000 capacity main stage was created by Studio Berar's Marko Maleevi?. It was based on the need to have a flexible rig that would work for all artists including those bringing their own LDs. Maleevi? also lit several bands playing at the event including Gogol Bordelo, Juliet & The Licks, Manu Chao and others.
The Studio Berar team installed a trussing grid, below the 25m wide, 14m deep roof which offered an impressive 18m of headroom. The moving lights - 20 Robe ColorSpot 700E ATs and 50 Robe ColorWash 575E ATs - were arranged across the grid, with 60m of Tecno Vision LED at the back.
Maleevi? comments: "Robe's a great choice, specially for open air gigs, and the lights have proved reliable time and time again. All the visiting LDs were also happy to use them." The Robes - along with strobes, other moving lights and a large conventional rig - were controlled via an Avo Sapphire console.
This was the fifth consecutive year that Studio Berar has supplied lighting equipment to the dance stage at the festival, which has now grown to a capacity of 25000. It was designed by Arsa Zlatkovic, who used an Avolites Pearl to control all the moving lights which included 12 Robe ColorWash 575E ATs, 12 ColorSpot 575E ATs and 12 Robe Scan 575 XTs, along with other moving lights and effects, strobes, space canons and 80 conventionals.
The 2008 line up included N-E-R-D, Primal Scream,The Streets, Roni Size & Reprazent, The Sex Pistols, Paul Weller and many more, totalling over 500 artists appearing across 20 stages.
