The new equipment, provided by Shure Distribution UK, has been installed following the theatre's first year of operation, which was originally designed for theatrical and classical orchestral events. The equipment had to be of a professional standard for hosting live rock and jazz concerts and portable enough for use in performances outside the school.
The new installation includes a PA system consisting of QSC's HPR 122I monitors, HPR 153I mid-high range speakers and HPR 181I sub woofers. The Shure DFR22 digital audio processor was also installed enabling students to quickly recall tailored settings for various performance requirements.
Shure SM57s, SM58s, Beta 57s and Beta 58s microphones were fitted to the theatre and integrated with a Shure SLX wireless radio mic system, providing eight independent UHF wireless channels. Two Shure SCM810E auto mixers were also bought to improve the audio quality when using multiple microphones at once.
Pete Warne, teacher and Technical Manager at RGS comments: "We were aiming to create a balance between a teaching facility and a professional standard venue. Pupil feedback and the number of bookings indicates we have succeeded. The new PA system is both powerful and portable enough for our needs and the ability to seamlessly integrate the QSC speakers, and Shure equipment has been a great advantage."
