The 8 input / 6 output units feature 10-bit Internal processing with built-in frame synchronisers and scalers on all inputs alongside full SDI support covering 3G, HD and SD.
DVI-D, RGB and HDMI support is provided alongside input status LEDs, HDCP support for Blu-ray playback and a multiviewer monitor output.
Andrew Ellerby, technical support manager at the company's Central Resource Unit explained,
" We spent a long time assessing various solutions but the Roland fitted our needs perfectly. We are seeing an increase in requests from our clients to provide multi-format source mixing during events together with the ability to provide HD video and projection all at a competitive price point."
Webcasting and in particular hybrid events have been an important part of the Saville business mix over the last few years and having a feature packed, self-contained production unit enables the technical teams to work in a very compact productive environment.
The Multi-Zoom feature can be enabled when one video input is shared internally with up to three more inputs - essentially daisy-chaining it. The scaler for each input can zoom into any position in the video image giving the appearance that additional cameras are connected - creating a virtual multi-camera environment. Additional effects include a down-stream keyer (DSK), a composite keyer, Picture-in-Picture and multiple transitions.
The internal scalers allow any input from any source to be adjusted to suit the final output resolution seamlessly. Andrew goes on to explain: "The ability to match differing resolutions and formats from analog and digital sources is paramount to modern day productions. An extremely useful feature is being able to switch between different configurations of inputs using the memory functions. This creates an amazing level of flexibility - a definite must when we are presented with content last minute on-site!"
