Cliff Miller, owner of SE Systems.
USA - SE Systems of Greensboro, NC has been named the recipient of a 2006 TEC Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Tour Sound Production for the North American tour of Alison Krauss and Union Station, featuring Jerry Douglas. The award was presented to SE Systems as well as FOH engineer Bernie Velluti and monitor engineer Mark Richards.

According to SE Systems owner Cliff Miller, the use of JBL Vertec line arrays proved to be one of the keys to the tour's success. "The system has worked out extremely well for us on the Alison Krauss tour," he said. "We try to make the sound system as transparent as possible to maintain the purity of the acoustic instruments and Alison's vocals. With the Vertec line arrays, we are able to amplify the instruments through microphones without any additional built-in pickups. This provides us with significantly more gain at the mixing controls than with other line array models."

SE Systems has provided sound reinforcement for Krauss's North American tours since 2001. "We've been in the business for 33 years and this has been the best tour group we've ever worked with," Miller said. "It's been a great relationship and after the years we've been together, it seems like the band is just as excited as we are."
