The winners of the Pick Hit Award were selected by an anonymous group of judges from the broadcast, postproduction, network or satellite industries and were neither known by the editors nor by the publisher of Broadcast Engineering in advance.
Neutrik's OpticalCon was found to be outstanding due to its impact on everyday work life, technological improvement over previous products and the appropriateness of pricing not only by Broadcast Engineering. The fibre optic connector system was already awarded the "Best New Sound Product of the Year" by LDI in November 2005.
