UK - Hearing-impaired visitors to Kensington Palace, one of London's most popular tourist attractions, have been able to enjoy their trip thanks to a recently purchased Sennheiser Tourguide system, provided by Surrey-based audio installation company SYSCO.

Kensington Palace was originally built in the early seventeenth century and has been a residence of the British royal family since 1689. The Palace was the home of Diana, Princess of Wales until 1997, which made it the perfect location for the exhibition Diana: a Princess Remembered which was open to the public between July 2007 and March 2008.

SYSCO supplied a total of five Sennheiser 2020-D Tourguide systems, consisting of five HDE 2020-D headphone/receivers and five SK 2020-D mini-transmitters, along with two HSP-2-EW-3 headset mics and an EZL2020-20L combined storage case and charging station.

"We used the Tourguide in the Diana: a Princess Remembered exhibition in Kensington Palace for hearing-impaired visitors," explains Chris Mothersdale, operations manager at SYSCO. "They were used in a room with four screens displaying various media images of Diana. There were directional speakers in the room, but the Tourguide system allowed us to broadcast the four individual speeches from the backs of the media players.

"The 2020-D Tourguide system has worked well for this exhibition with positive feedback received from Kensington Palace. In particular, they found it easy to use and aesthetically pleasing."
