Sticking with wireless systems, Sennheiser has attempted to lower the cost of high quality products with the introduction of the new freePORT range. The systems are integrated solutions coming in three varieties - Vocal, Instrument and Presentation - all of which allow four switchable frequencies to be operated simultaneously. The freePORT range also extends to loudspeakers and Klein and Hummel have launched a mobile wireless self-powered PA speaker which has two compartments for up to four Sennheiser evolution G2 receivers.
Sennheiser also showed a host of new products from the brands it distributes in the UK. From Apart were the PA-CONF conference system, the SDX and MASK lines of loudspeakers (replacing the Sdi and Boxx lines), and the MA series of 100V line amplifiers, which complement the Apart range of mixer amplifiers. Other products included the PR-1000 rack-mount tuner, a range of column speakers and new additions to the ceiling speaker range.
Also new was the C Series installation amplifier from Lab.Gruppen. Each amplifier permits the individual adjustment of maximum voltage peak output, bridge-mode operation, gain adjustment; and as standard, features on-board network capability for monitoring and control. With these features it is now possible to specify identical amplifiers in an installation and then adjust and fine-tune each output to the very specific requirement of the speaker system design.
From Spanish manufacturer DAS Audio was the new Reference series of mid-size PA systems aimed at a wide variety of applications, from mobile systems to permanent installs. The series offers a very flexible total of 10 different system configurations.
Finally from Sennheiser UK's distribution portfolio, the MS-88 from NetCIRA is the company's firstbi-directional ready product; it will allow a mix of input and output devices to be used at any point ina network, allowing a two-way flow of information via a single Cat 5 cable. It also features an RS 232 port for external PC or integration with third party products, and word clock on a BNC connector.
