Italy - The key feature of SGM's Giotto Digital 1500 is the revolutionary introduction of the Digital Module which - using a clever application of DLP technology from Texas Instruments - enables the Giotto to project graphic effects with the brightness and speed of professional moving head fixtures, says the company.

Giotto Digital 1500 is the first and only moving head fixture on the market able to create all-digital, completely customizable graphic effects, finally overcoming the typical limits of effects generated by traditional gobo patterns, iris, beam shapers and zoom components.

The Giotto 1500 series is a whole new range of 'super bright' moving heads for production, stage and touring. Designed as a versatile and modular range which includes Spot, Wash and Profile variants, with the pinnacle version centring on a unit fitted with the High Tech 'Digital' module.

Using a DLP chip the Digital module holds two customizable libraries updating via WiFi: 500 'digital gobos' - 250 held as *.bmp or *

"The designers can now really get creative without any limitations and save by not waiting for those expensive gobos to arrive and be loaded", stated SGM general manager Alessandra Giorgi. In just a few shows that require custom gobos, the Giotto Digital 1500 will pay for itself, saving on both the gobo cost and technician loading time really adds up quickly.

Regarding the Giotto Digital 1500, SGM Sales Manager Franco Natali said: "After years of research, we have managed to create the first moving head fixture able to generate digital gobo and animated graphic effects".

The excellent colour rendering of the Giotto Digital 1500 is even more obvious with the quality of the light produced by the Philips MSR1200 FastFit lamp, and now by the new Philips MSR Gold 1500 FastFit (6,400°K) lamp, the company adds.

The Digital module also provides all the other features normally provided by stepper motors and other mechanics, including, gobo rotation, shutter blades, iris, gobo morphing as well as adding digital zoom and instant gobo change.
