Artist has been commissioned to control the Atmospheric installation of the Brown Box AV product, Colorflow - a 1.5m long three-channel DMX-controlled RGB cold-cathode uplighter. Over 150 Colorflow units were utilized in this latest installation, enabling the projection of both full colour washes and more intricate multi-coloured effects over the roof of the venue.
Artist was employed for this task because of its built-in matrix functions not found on many other controllers, making programming such large matrices extremely easy. Lines, chases, cascades, washes, rainbows and many other matrix patterns can be quickly programmed into Artist, allowing the venue to select different effects depending on the mood required.
The other major reason Artist was used was its built-in touch-screen interface, which meant that Atmospheric could leave the venue with a simple, elegant 'light-switch' allowing push-button access to chosen presets plus all of the gym house lighting is controlled from this one screen.
Artist has been specially developed to control RGB fixtures quickly and powerfully and the principles employed in the Amida can be applied to any colour-mixing device currently on the market - whether LED, neon/cold-cathode or intelligent lighting fixtures. The Amida system was programmed as a 28 x 8 matrix, which allowed quick access to the pre-built patterns. Video-to-DMX programming is currently in development and will simplify programming of such matrices even further.
