Showsec has worked closely with AMG in venues across the country for many years, delivering tailored crowd management plans. With Showsec's Northern regional manager Mark Logan continuing the healthy relationship with AMG, Showsec developed the crowd management strategies implemented in the Liverpool and Birmingham Academy venues and have now adapted these to suit Carling Academy Newcastle.
Showsec has employed a team that combines experienced managers and newly recruited local staff who have been trained to work as in-house security stewards, with newly attained SIA licences. Logan commented: "There was clearly a lot of excitement about the new Academy opening in Newcastle and we had no problem recruiting some very capable staff to work with our more experienced managers. We're looking forward to working with general manager Polly Woodbridge and group operations director for Academy Music Group, Steve Forster to make this the happening venue in Newcastle."
Drawing on experience across the other AMG venues, Showsec is able to understand the requirements of security for both live events and club nights, both of which will feature at the Newcastle venue. This change in use requires the building to be efficiently cleared after live shows and prepared for club nights.
