The Blue Lounge

Greece - The Royal & Imperial Belvedere Resort in Chersónisos, Crete, has had its Blue Lounge - pool bar, pool area, lobby and exterior revamped. Highlite's exclusive distributor Sivko Electronics and their regional partner George Solakis were entrusted with the design, supply and implementation.

When Sivko Electronics' partner in the Chersónisos region, George Solakis, contacted them to supply the appropriate equipment for a refurbishment of the Royal & Imperial Belvedere Resort, they immediately switched into high gear to get the project off the ground. George Solakis and crew member Pantelis Nathenas designed the concept, while Kostas Poulis and Sivko Electronics supplied the equipment. Programming was entrusted to Lefteris Katakis.

The redesign also included the external appearance of the hotel, for which they added architectural lighting so that it could be seen from a great distance and have an imposing appearance. After studying the site, they decided to install several waterproof Showtec Helix S5000 Q4 fixtures with 40-degree filters and barndoors in appropriate locations to support the exterior lighting, but without disturbing the hotel's guests during their stay. To accentuate the beautiful woodwork of the ceiling, multiple IP65-rated Showtec Cameleon Flood 7/3 RGB and Cameleon Flood 18/3 RGB washlights were chosen.

For the Blue Lounge - Pool Bar area next to the hotel pool, Sivko Electronics supplied four Showtec Phantom 65 Spot compact LED spot moving heads. To create a subtle visual effect in the seating area around the pool, they chose Showtec's Mad Moon LED effect light.

The lighting is controlled via a tablet networked to Showtec's Lampy 20-2U DMX lighting console, allowing the operator to change the colour of the building's exterior and interior while walking around the hotel grounds, without having to go to the control room. Two Showtec RDM Splitter Pro units were used to boost the DMX signals to cover the long distances. Additional basic lighting control is provided by the Showtec SM-8/2 16-channel lighting console.

To provide clear sound in the lobby and corridors of the hotel, Sivko Electronics supplied over 30 DAP CS-66 ceiling loudspeakers distributed throughout the venue. The DAP GIG-143TAB 14-channel digital mixing console and the DAP IMIX-5.3 3-zone mixer, as well as several of the same brand's convenient CA-4500 DSP 4-channel amplifiers, were chosen to control the audio signals.

In the bar area, five DAP WMS6-B passive 6.5" design wall speakers were installed, driven by a DAP IA-270 Class D amplifier. DAP HP-280 Pro semi-open studio headphones were used to monitor the sound.

All lighting and audio equipment was connected with DAP cables, from DMX to microphone/line cables and from XLR-to-jack adapters to stereo mini jack to RCA line cables.
