"Chris's leadership on the operations side has been integral to the steady growth and profitability of Shure for several years, "says Sandy LaMantia, president and CEO, Shure. Schyvinck replaces Mike McGinn, who has left the company. Previously, Schyvinck had been executive vice president of operations and had responsibility for the management of several divisions, including global manufacturing, corporate quality, materials, and process and tool engineering.
"Throughout her tenure here at Shure, Chris has often accepted or volunteered for difficult and complicated assignments," adds LaMantia. "She was instrumental in directing the opening of our manufacturing facility in China last year and she continues to play a key role in the implementation of our long-term strategic business plan."
Schyvinck joined Shure in 1989 as an engineer in the corporate quality division. After several promotions, she was transferred to the newly created process engineering department. In 1997, she became the manager of this important function. In 1998, Schyvinck was promoted to vice president of corporate quality. In 2000, her responsibilities were expanded, and she advanced to the position of vice president of operations before being promoted to executive vice president of operations in 2004.
Schyvinck earned a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin. While working full-time at Shure, she also earned a Master's degree in engineering management from Northwestern University.
Ron Thompson will become acting vice president of operations, reporting to Sandy LaMantia, until a replacement is hired.
