Shure captures Jacob Collier collection
- Details
Jacob Collier says, "Ever since I can remember, I have derived a vast amount of comfort and joy from sitting at the piano and improvising. I have long dreamed of sharing an album that lives in that world. This year, I set myself the challenge of playing a spontaneous rendition of a different song every night on tour - with the help of my extraordinary musical audience. These 11 are amongst my favourite postcards.”
The performances for this album were captured in high-resolution, studio-quality surround sound using a selection of Shure microphones and wireless equipment, with Collier’s signature vocal on the newly released KSM11 condenser vocal microphone. In fact, the KSM11 is featured on the record’s cover.
The audience performances were preserved via four KSM44A large diaphragm condenser microphones and AD3 plug-on wireless transmitters from Shure’s Axient Digital Wireless System. Collier’s recording engineers positioned the microphones amongst the audience in optimal locations each night, with mics sometimes hundreds of feet from the stage.
This combination of equipment was assembled ‘in an ultra-portable form-factor, so they could be transported to each of the 70 venues of the 2022 Djesse World Tour’.
